Solo or club territory in Treadline: choosing your map goal

Treadline’s Solo territory cannot be taken by another person. Club territory adds competition with clubmates. Landmark badges are a separate lasting collection: once earned from a qualifying capture around the marked point, a badge stays yours even if competitive territory changes hands.

This guide is published by Treadline, one of the apps discussed. No app paid for placement. Sources and copy reviewed ; features, access and purchase options can change.

How to choose

This guide explains three distinct goals in the released app: personal territory, competition with clubmates and permanent landmark collecting.

Choose Solo for a personal map goal

In Solo, the territory you claim cannot be taken by someone else. That makes the map a way to choose your next route without needing to defend ground against another runner or walker.

A useful first goal is one accessible loop you already know. Review the recorded route afterwards and use what you see to decide where you would like to explore next. No city-wide completion target is required.

Choose a club when shared competition appeals

Club territory brings competition with clubmates. The ownership of a competitive area can change, so the current map and a permanent collection answer different questions.

Agree on a goal that suits the outings people actually want to take. This page describes competition within clubs; it does not promise an unreleased global territory mode or that one person’s claim is permanent on the club map.

Keep landmark badges separate from ownership

A badge is earned when a qualifying recorded run or walk captures territory enclosing the landmark’s marked point. Visiting the location or passing it on a straight route does not meet that rule.

After the badge is earned, it remains in your collection even if territory ownership changes. Losing competitive ground therefore does not mean losing the landmark badge. Check the marked location when planning another attempt.

Start with the features you need

Recording, territory and landmark badges are free; Pro is optional and adds other features. Treadline records on iPhone and Android. Browse the public catalogue or loop finder before deciding on a destination, then use the app for recording and the activity result.

For an outing with limited time, estimate the moving time from your own pace and add stops and travel. Choosing a map goal should help you choose a walk or run that fits the day, rather than force a route that does not.
