Running games for iPhone: stories, routes and badges
A running game can reward a place, tell a story or celebrate your training. Treadline suits runners who want landmark badges from real loops; Zombies, Run! offers an audio adventure; Nike Run Club focuses on guided running.
This guide is published by Treadline, one of the apps discussed. No app paid for placement. Sources and copy reviewed ; features, access and purchase options can change.
How to choose
Choose by the motivation you need: a destination, a story or guidance. We checked the official product descriptions rather than assigning invented performance scores.
Compare the motivation
| App | What it suits | Cost and limits |
|---|---|---|
| Treadline | Real landmark badges from qualifying loops on iPhone. | Recording, territory and badges free; Pro optional. |
| Zombies, Run! | Walk, jog or run through an audio adventure and gather supplies for a base. | Free download with weekly free episode unlocks; a subscription opens the full experience. |
| Nike Run Club | Follow audio-guided runs and running training plans. | Free NRC features for Nike Members; check current device and regional availability. |
Make the route the objective
Treadline records distance, pace, moving time, elevation gain and your route. A qualifying running loop can claim the enclosed ground. Enclose a landmark's marked location to earn its badge; passing it on a straight run does not earn the badge.
A collection can give an easy run a purpose without requiring a faster time. Walking uses the same landmark rule, so you can choose the activity that suits the day.
Keep the game compatible with the run
Pick a distance you already feel comfortable covering. The time calculator estimates moving time from your own pace; it is not a training prescription. Allow extra time for crossings, stops and route decisions.
Treadline is available on iPhone and Android. If watch recording, structured coaching or a specific audio experience matters most, check that requirement before switching apps.
