New York landmark walks: compare three published loops
Compare three published New York City loops around Washington Square Arch, the Empire State Building and the Guggenheim Museum. The catalogue suggestions are about 0.89 km, 0.92 km and 1.28 km. They are separate walking options, with travel between them outside those distances.
This guide is published by Treadline, one of the apps discussed. No app paid for placement. Sources and copy reviewed ; features, access and purchase options can change.
How to choose
We selected three existing Treadline catalogue suggestions with different lengths. This is a comparison of individual loops, not a ranked attraction list or a route joining them together.

Compare the loop, then add the rest of the outing
The table below uses the approximate GPX lengths already published in the catalogue. Its moving-time examples use 12 minutes per kilometre, rounded up to whole minutes. They exclude the journey to the start, crossings, queues, photographs and visits inside attractions.
Use your own pace in the time calculator. A shorter route is not necessarily quieter, flatter or more accessible. These suggestions have not been physically inspected for this article.
Choose for your available time
Washington Square Arch’s suggestion is 889 m, the Empire State Building’s is 915 m and the Guggenheim’s is 1,278 m. At the illustrative 12 min/km pace, rounding up gives 11, 11 and 16 moving minutes.
The first two differ by only 26 m in the published route lengths. That small difference is less useful for choosing a walk than where you are starting, the actual streets and current access. Pick a suitable nearby option rather than travelling just to save a fraction of a kilometre.
Inspect access and choose your start
Open the linked landmark page to inspect the exact path and marked place. Check current access and any opening restrictions with the relevant site before travelling. The catalogue’s OpenStreetMap source date describes the route data, not a fresh on-foot inspection.
The listed distance covers only that individual suggested loop. It does not include a route from a station or hotel, travel between these landmarks, an admission ticket or a visit inside a building. Keep the plan to one loop unless you separately budget the additional travel.
Use the file as a suggestion
The GPX links below are available without a website account. They do not provide turn-by-turn navigation. If access differs from the map, use an appropriate public alternative or choose a different outing.
For a Treadline badge, your actual recorded run or walk must capture territory enclosing the landmark’s marked point. A visit alone does not earn it, and following a suggested line does not guarantee an award. Any loop meeting the app’s qualification rules can count.
